Are there alternative facts? Do alternative facts live in the same neighborhood?
This is a season of change, adjustments, and alternative realities… If you don’t believe me, ask a liberal.
But, that’s another story completely.
A friend had this discussion – and I decided to pre-empt it with some forethought on ‘alternatives’.
Ms. Conway is a brilliant and formidable woman. She is also a cool customer and calmly holds her own against the interrogative attack of the badgers of the press better than almost anyone. I’m not thinking such a person meant to use “alternative facts” in the same sense as “alternative reality” as in, “we can just make up fiction and see if we can get away with it.” (Though, that has often seemed to be Trump’s personal approach to public pronouncements.) No, I believe Ms. Conway simply used the wrong word. She meant something more akin to “competing” or “disputing” or “dissenting” facts.
Those who plastered the “facts” all over the internet, news papers, and media over last weekend were definitely dissenting, but were they not alternative facts as well? Most assuredly they were the facts as some prefer to see them, disputed by the reality, their competitive views of the world as we knew it, as it happened on Friday and Saturday. Those who didn’t like what happened spent time whining, crying, and shriveling in fear over what was to happen. The rest of the world gasped a breath of the fresh air of freedom, recognizing space for their ideals in a world where they had been denied.
As jobs become available and the entitlements that have been handed out without thought of who paid for them are dismissed, this world will eventually stand to the right again.
Hopefully, those who cry against freedom to choose and take responsibility for themselves, will eventually see the merit in making better choices, and working for what they desire. Hopefully. I now have hope.
I assure you, it’s going to be a lot better world, with the realization that you really are responsible for your own Reality, and your own Facts.
