How many people are in your tribe?
Think about it this way, if you told the three people whom you talk to most often on Facebook that you have a new blog, how many of them would share your link and tell their friends about it?
To win in business online, you need a tribe of at least 20 people sharing what you do with 20 of their closest friends and family members, and some of them will share too. But really, it’s better if the people who share your new blog aren’t necessarily the friends whom you can ASK to share it, but rather people who want what you have enough to know other people who will want it to – and they share what you offer. That’s the key to building your business online, and marketing what you do to the online world. Building a tribe, creating a following, and going the distance to make sure other people like what you offer enough to share it too.
Who’s your twenty?
I thought about listing mine here, and I may at times mention them, because they’re amazing people and I like to promote their businesses online too. But, I’m hoping you’ll catch on to the quiet relevance of making connections with people who buy your services, creating relationships with them, and growing a network of interactive business connections.
You could have connections like Diane Brown who hires me as a consultant, and my graphics team for most of her marketing details, as well as my web design business. We meet occasionally for lunch and figure out what direction she needs to go with her marketing for a new season, and connect the marketing dots together. I send her insurance clients, share her links, and look at her products when she has something I can use. It’s a win/win for both of us.
Or Krystine Kercher, who does some of my tech services, and often acts as my virtual assistant, but offers up her own online business, through my servers with her own websites. We occasionally get together on Facebook for a late night chat, share each other’s links, and promote each other’s business because the benefits are mutual.
And then there’s Toby, the redneck cousin to the Red Cap Sales Coach, who exchanges banter, promotes me online, and shares the most incredibly good sales nuggets. Everyone is a friend of Toby, and he’s a great marketing link for any Tribal Connect. You’d think he’s one of the gang, although, his alter ego will swear up and down that Toby is just a mirage…
